			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="dropcap-first">This is the official Sebastian Faulks website, designed and maintained by Random House. It has been developed to provide a reliable source of information for students, journalists and other readers. The site will be regularly updated to contain news and access to recent writing, some of which will appear here first.</p>
<p>Sebastian Faulks’s latest novel is <strong>A Week In December</strong> is a major <em>Sunday Times</em> bestseller. It has so far sold more than 120,000 in the Hutchinson edition. The Vintage paperback is due out in September 2010.</p>
<p><em>A Week in December</em> is being adapted by Simon Burke for Left Bank Productions for a four-part serial to be shown on <strong>Channel Four in 2011</strong>.</p>
<p>Faulks is currently making a four-part television series for <strong>BBC 2</strong> about characters in British novels, to be broadcast next year. The hour-long parts are on the Hero, the Lover, the Snob and the Villain. Each programme will look at seven characters, ranging from the early 18th century up to the present day.</p>
<p>BBC Books will publish the accompanying book.</p>
