The results of the "How to Get Rich" SL competition are now in!

Second LifeSeptember 11th 2007:  Today publishers Ebury Publishing have announced the winners of the first round of the Felix Dennis ‘How to Get Rich’ Second Life business ideas competition, held on Elysian Isle in SL.

From a wide range of entries submitted over the last month the judges selected three winners who will each receive a cash prize and go on to round two where they will have to set their business up and make money.

According to Elysian Isle Manager Nick Gloucester, “we had lots of good entries and the overall standard was very high, and selecting the three winners was really hard.”

Each of the three winners will now be given two months to make a profit from their business idea, and the individual who can show the biggest profit at the end of that period will be deemed the winner of the grand prize of a further L$50,000.

The winners of round #1 are:

Bianca ZanettiFirst prize of $L25,000 - Bianca Zanetti - the SL based retail sales reporting tool.

Bianca owns a chain of fashion stores in Second Life, where users can buy clothes to change their appearance.  She has found the sales reporting tools in SL very frustrating, so has built her own.  She will be using the money to further develop and market her tool across the SL business community.

Angel SlocombeSecond Prize of L$15,000 -   Angel Slocombe - the Angel Grace School of Emoting

There are many professions within Second Life, most of which require users to express emotions to their customers to get them excited about their product or interested in them personally.  Angel’s school of emoting will teach these SL professionals how to express themselves better to their clients in order to earn higher wages and attract new clients.

Lillith AnatineThird Prize of L$10,000 -   Lillith Anatine - the chain of kiosk vendors

Impulse buyers are common in SL and are probably the largest spending group in this world, behind SL fashionistas. Often people will buy an item they do not particularly need or want simply because it's inexpensive and is "cool". Lillith has created a library of small kiosks selling impulse buy products.  She will use the money to expand her network of kiosks and invest money into the locations that are performing the best.

Each of the winners will also receive a free business premises on Elysian Isle for three months.

The progress of our three contestants can be followed through this website and through the Elysian Isle blog - http://elysianisleonsecondlife.blogspot.com/  - Members of the general public are also invited to visit the three businesses at their Elysian Isle premises.
